Not Under Bondage: Biblical Divorce for Abuse, Adultery and Desertion
The Bible DOES allow divorce for domestic abuse.
My book explains the scriptural dilemmas of abuse victims in regards to separation and divorce. It examines the scriptures and scholarly research, showing exactly how and why scripture allows victims of abuse to divorce their abusive spouses. It also address whether remarriage is permissible for a divorced Christian.
In the book, I advised Christian victims that they should do a Matthew 18 process to get their church to officially rule that their church-attending spouse is an unbeliever, before they filed for divorce. A few years after the book came out, I realised that my advice had been biblically unsound and was a guilt trip for victims who attend conservative churches.
I now tell victims that 1 Corinthians 5:11-13 allows you to divorce your spouse who claims to be a Christian, without having to obtain permission from their church. I hope to publish a revised version which will give that advice. If I have the bandwidth to do a revised version, it will be e-book, paperback and Audible. You can only get it in paperback at this stage.
